SFB staff and Board Members welcome the Governor's appointment of Sean McCarthy as Chairman of the School Facilities Board.

Sean McCarthy, Senior Research Analyst for the Arizona Tax Research Association (ATRA), is a 2007 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a minor in Spanish. Sean has a Master’s degree in Intelligence Studies from the American Military University. As an intelligence officer, Captain McCarthy served seven years in a variety of roles supporting combat operations with the MQ-1 Predator and the F-16 Viper, including a six month deployment in Afghanistan. He continues to serve locally in the Air Force Reserve. Sean has published several essays on Arizona school finance and is a recognized policy expert on K-12 finance issues at the State Capitol. His roles at ATRA include K-12 education, Community Colleges and general taxation. Sean was appointed as the Taxpayer Representative and his expires in January 2018.

As the newly appointed Chairman, Sean may choose to appoint a Vice-Chairman for the Board.
